Western Province win first SA Gold! Print

In a tight and thrilling final, Western Province secured their first SA Interprovincial Championship crown with a 3-0 win over Southern Gauteng. Read more for all the stats.

All three goals came in the last ten minutes of the game, after Andre Marais put a close-range shot over the left shoulder of goaltender-of-the-tournament Ashley Bock. Province went two ahead when Nick von Rahden blasted in a loose puck from the hash marks, and Marc Giot sealed it for the home team minutes later with a perfect shot low to Bock's right.

Northern Gauteng won their bronze-medal match against KwaZulu-Natal, winning 15-1 against a brave but tiring KZN team, who had already played Southern Gauteng earlier in the day.

In the individual awards, Western Province secured Best Forward in Andre Marais and Most Valuable Player in Michael Fraquet.
