PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONS:

Full face visors: All players under 21 will be required to wear full face visors when playing for WP with effect from January 2008. This is non-negotiable – should you need to discuss this with anyone, Ronnie will be glad to have this discussion with you.

Worlds: Players selected for Worlds will have to have a full medical once selected.

Drug Free Sport: Drug tests may be conducted during SA Championships during 2007 so please be extremely careful about the medication you take. Should you require any medication, check with your practitioner whether the medication contains any banned substances. If this is the case, request an alternative.

Please take note of the following:

  • You must ensure that any product or medication you take does not contain a banned substance;

  • Under the rule of strict liability, you are responsible for whatever substance is found in your body in a drug test even if taken inadvertently.

With regard to medication taken on a continuous basis, you should contact the Institute for Drug-Free Sport and ascertain whether your medication is on the banned substances list. Should this be the case, a TUE(Therapeutic Use Exemption) form should be completed and submitted at least 21 days prior to the tournament. The contact details are as follows : Hotline : 021 4483888, website : www.drugfreesport.org.za

Please be aware that you could have the following sanctions imposed on you, should you test positive for a banned substance:

  • Disqualification of results.

  • Can be banned up to 2 years for a first offence with a lifetime ban for a second offence.

  • You may not participate in any way (training, coaching) in your own or any other sport for the duration of the ban.

Please feel free to contact our Treasurer Alaine Reaper should you want further clarity on the above issue.

WIN A CAR RAFFLE

We are heading into the final days of selling all the raffle tickets for this wonderful prize. The holiday period is an ideal time to sell and bug families, neighbours, friends, enemies, EVERBODY to buy a raffle ticket. We don’t have much time and still have a long way to go. Remember we will all benefit if we can sell all the tickets – please contact Marina Louw on 082-886-8304 to tell her how many raffle tickets you still have in your book to sell, or to ask her for more!!

A reminder of suggestions for getting these tickets sold are that a booklet of 15 tickets is split between two members; a ticket gets split between two purchasers (they would have to sell the car or do a coin toss!) etc.

We would WELCOME volunteers who would help us, the committee, keep our members motivated to sell the tickets and come in with the money – please contact Marina Louw on 082-886-8304 or Heather Chowles on 083-327-6893 if you have any ideas or are willing to actively help in some way. Thank you to those of you who have already come forward with ideas and practical help!
