Dear Members

Our 2009 year begins with the AGM being held on Sunday 18 January upstairs at the ice rink at 09h00.  A new committee will be elected so please join us. We need a quorum of at least 17.  This will be followed at 10h00 by the first registration for 2009.  Next Sunday 25 January will be the next registration date.

Our U18 team selected to play at the IIHF World Championships being held in Chinese Taipei from 25 February to 6 March are training very hard.  The coach for this team is Ronnie Wood.  Manager is Elsabe Stockhoff. Assistant Manager is Steven Johnson.  Team doctor is Dr Leon Gouws.

The team is as follows : Bernie Gouws (Captain), Jarryd Goodwin, Jade Johnson, Chad Williams, Luke Carelse, Baden Best, Brandon Kros, Ethan Samuels, Cai Nebe, Lloyd Schluter, Uthman Samaii and Kyle van Rooyen.  Well done to all of them on being chosen, we are very proud of you. This team will be receiving their full Junior Protea colours this year.

Our senior team leave in April but we are still awaiting the names to be announced by SA Ice Hockey.

Fees

Due to the risk factor when it comes to handling cash anywhere, we are making the ice rink a cash free zone.  NO money will be accepted by the committee other than the try out fee of R50 for children who may not come back after their 3 sessions.  

There are 3 options available.

The fees for 2009 will be as follows :

1.Pay a once off fee of R2700 (R100 reduction for full amount payment) by direct deposit / EFT or cheque – We will need proof of payment.

2.Registration fee of R400 then post-dated cheques for payment of R240 per month February to November (ie R2800 in total)

3.Registration fee of R400 then stop order through your bank for payment of R240 per month February to November (ie R2800 in total).

Please discuss the option which suits you with our Treasurer or President.  

All members who still owed money at the end of last year will need to be fully paid up before they can register this year.

All members who are traveling overseas on tours for U18 and seniors will have to be paid up for 2008 and also have paid registration fees for 2009 before being allowed to leave.

Kit to sell

Attendance register

This year we will have a table close to the entrance with a book in which each player is asked to sign when arriving for practice.  We need to keep a record of our players who are on the ice.  This will apply to all players.  

Club socks, tops, neck guards and half visors :

All players have to wear neck guards at all times when on the ice.

NO club socks and tops are allowed to be worn during practices.  These tops are meant for league matches only.

IIHF rules state that NO player under the age of 20 is allowed to wear a half visor on their helmet.  This applies to ALL players and assistant coaches too.
